Hi, I’m David.
I’m a marketing and communications specialist with more than five years of experience planning digital campaigns, growing audiences, and helping organizations explain complicated ideas more clearly.
My work includes email, websites, social media, content, advocacy, fundraising, paid media, and analytics. I like seeing a project through from the first conversation to launch, then stepping back to understand what worked and what I might do differently next time.
Most of my experience has been with mission-driven organizations, where trust and clarity matter. That work has taught me to listen closely, understand what an audience needs, and build a plan that is thoughtful but practical. It has also given me experience that translates well to growing teams, brands, agencies, and technology companies.
I grew up between Hawaiʻi, Japan, and California, which shaped my interest in people, culture, and place. I studied anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and began my marketing career at the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra before moving into digital communications for California State Parks Foundation.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time in parks, usually with a camera. I’m also a Certified California Naturalist and enjoy helping others learn about the outdoors and feel more comfortable spending time in nature. When I’m not doing that, I’m probably training for a race or planning my next trip.
What Guides My Work
I bring curiosity, context, and clear strategy to every project. I want the work I create to be useful, accessible, and true to the people and organizations behind it.

A Few Moments Along the Way
The places I visit, photographs I take, and things I notice outside of work often shape how I think about people, communication, and the natural world → More stories and photographs.
