My marketing career began at the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra as it reopened, rebranded, and began reconnecting with audiences after a period of closure.
I supported the rollout of its new identity through digital and print communications while also helping organize its physical and historical materials. The role combined marketing, archival work, concert operations, and the practical work of helping an organization reestablish itself.
-
My work included:
Creating concert posters and promotional materials
Supporting the rollout of the orchestra’s new brand
Managing and creating content for digital channels
Scanning and digitally archiving historic photographs
Organizing office, marketing, and archival materials
Preparing older images and stories for public sharing
Supporting concert logistics and in-person operations
Selling tickets and assisting audience members at performances
Coordinating with staff, musicians, and guest artists

The experience gave me an early understanding of how communications, history, and operations work together. It showed me that rebuilding an organization’s public presence involves more than promotion. It also requires preserving its history, creating consistent experiences, and helping audiences reconnect with its work.
