Proposition 4
A two-phase digital campaign that educated voters, mobilized supporters, and continued the push for parks funding after the election.
Timeline: 2024–2025
Areas of Work: Digital Strategy · Advocacy · Email · Web · Social Media · Content · Fundraising · Analytics
-
Proposition 4 was a $10 billion climate bond supporting climate resilience, parks, clean water, wildfire prevention, and other environmental priorities across California.
California State Parks Foundation’s campaign helped voters understand what the measure could mean for state parks and encouraged supporters to vote yes. After it passed, the campaign shifted toward advocating for Proposition 4 funding to reach California’s parks and climate needs.
-
Proposition 4 covered a wide range of environmental priorities. We needed to explain a complex measure while making its connection to state parks clear and relevant.
The campaign also had to move audiences from awareness to participation, coordinate messaging with partners, and maintain engagement after Election Day.
-
I helped move the campaign from planning through launch, voter outreach, election communications, and post-election advocacy.
My responsibilities included:
Supported campaign planning across email, web, social media, paid promotion, and advocacy tools
Built petitions, action alerts, donation forms, and supporter journeys
Produced emails and managed segmentation, testing, tracking, and quality assurance
Developed campaign landing pages, blogs, graphics, and social media content
Supported staff, board, partner, and coalition communications
Monitored performance and continued outreach after the election
Continuing supporter engagement around Proposition 4 funding after the election
-
Connect the Bond to Parks
Campaign content explained how Proposition 4 could support climate resilience, sea-level-rise planning, deferred maintenance, and other needs facing California’s state parks.
Follow the Election Calendar
Email, social media, blogs, videos, toolkits, and a voter pledge followed major election milestones, including registration deadlines, mail ballots, early voting, and Election Day.
Extend the Campaign Through Partners
Toolkits gave staff, board members, advocates, and partner organizations consistent language and resources to share with their own audiences.
Continue After the Vote
Once the measure passed, communications shifted toward implementation. New action alerts encouraged supporters to contact state leaders and advocate for parks within Proposition 4 funding decisions.
